|The buzz surrounding Aishwarya Rai’s baby weight doesn’t seem to fizzle out soon. After Indian media extensively wrote reams on Aishwarya’s baby fat woes, comparing images of her past (single chin) and present (double chin), the international media has now taken up the topic, but only to extend support to the actress, who seems to be in no hurry to turn slim and trim anytime soon.
UK’s noted daily Dailymail has published an article on Aishwarya Rai with a very strong headline, which reads, “How the ‘most beautiful woman in the world’ has been accused of betraying her country for failing to lose her baby weight”. Yes, you read it right; this is how dailymail introduces Aishwarya Rai’s story, strongly criticizing the fans who wish the actress to sport a lean figure a la international hotties like Angelina Jolie or Posh Beckham.
The daily also mentioned that the detractors have been unkind on Ash, lambasting the star for letting her fans down. Since most are of the view that it’s Aishwarya’s duty to look good and slim being a superstar, the daily writes that there is little sympathy in her own country for Aishwarya, 38, who gave birth to her first child six months ago.
“It has opened up a debate in the country, and beyond, about the attitudes held towards women in the public eye,” writes dalymail about Aishwarya’s post-pregnancy kilos.
Socialite and columnist Shobhaa De lent her support to Ash, who for now is more concerned for her baby girl than her own diet. De writes, “She is held up as the ideal of beauty and so there is an expectation on her to look perfect at all times.”
Don’t you think that fans of the star should leave Ash to herself, and not fluster her with weighty issues?
