Deepika Padukone who was signed last year for Rajinikanth’s period drama Rana may not be part of the film. Now you must be thinking, wasn’t Rajinijanth’s film Rana shelved after it was announced that he will do Kochadaiyaan? Well, Rana is very much on and Rajini will act in it.
It can be recalled that Rajinikanth began working on his much-awaited Tamil historical action film, Rana, last year, but during the first schedule of shooting, he fell seriously ill shooting on the sets and had to be hospitalised for more than a month. As a result, the movie got postponed, and rumours of it being jinxed and shelved started doing the rounds.
However, director K.S. Ravikumar has a different story to tell. He confirms that soon he will resume the shooting of Rana after the release of Kochadaiyaan in November. Since Deepika Padukone is doing Kochadaiyaan, the makers don’t want to repeat the same pair for Rana.
“Deepika is already doing Kochadaiyaan with Rajni Sir. And we might not want to repeat the same pair immediately. But we will take the final call when the film’s shooting resumes,” says director Ravikumar.
For the fans of Rajini, there is a good news: the shooting for Kochadaiyaan concluded just a few weeks back. Now the work on the post-production on the film will start. Since the film involves a lot of intricate motion capturing and 3D, it will take some time to wrap it up. Kochadaiyaan is a period film directed by Rajini’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth and scripted by Ravikumar. The film will be released in Hindi, Japanese and English, and has A.R. Rahman’s music.
A few months back, Deepika Padukone even had a problem with producer Ramesh Taurani because she allotted dates to Kochadaiyaan after opting out of Taurani’s Race 2.
