To us, composer G.V. Prakash Kumar’s tunes in director Shirish Kunder’s upcoming comedy Joker have been a great disappointment. None of the previous songs, namely ‘Kaafirana’ and ‘Sing Raja’, have caught on with music lovers, and now add to the list ‘Yeh Joker’.
Sung by Sonu Nigam and Shweta Pandit, this number has a strictly average melody by G.V. Prakash Kumar. The video isn’t anything to rave about either.
There’s Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, Shreyas Talpade and a host of side actors and extras dancing in a dilapidated village with a couple of aliens scampering around in the wilderness. Even the choreography by Farah Khan is a let-down.
The lyrics written by director Shirish Kunder are trite at best. “Yeh joker kaisa punter, joh khele baazi khud par” is supposed to be the catch phrase. There’re also lines like “Baazi badi hai, dao bade, joker ke peeche shatir pade”.
The film tells the story of an NRI (Akshay Kumar) and his beautiful wife (Sonakshi Sinha) who return home to discover that their village has dropped off the map of India. To put it back on the world's radar they must now forge an unlikely alliance of crazy villagers & aliens that will turn their village into the biggest "tamasha" the universe has ever seen!
