|The large-hearted Salman Khan is at it again, doing the good deeds without making any noise or boasts. In his latest humane act, he has come to the rescue of prisoners who have served their jail terms but are still languishing in jails because they can’t pay the fine imposed on them.
Salman Khan is giving back all the love he has got from people. We hear that his Being Human charity has offered to pay Rs. 40 lakh to help free 400 prisoners who are mouldering away in UP jails for being unable to pay the fine that was imposed on them when the sentence was passed by the courts. Inability to pay the fine could lead to the prisoner serving an additional term.
“In about 63 jails in UP there are 400 such inmates who have completed their jail term but are still inside because they cannot pay fine due to financial problems,” Vijay Kumar Gupta, IG (UP), is quoted to have told PTI Bhasha.
Salman Khan’s Being Human has taken the initiative to pay the fine on behalf of these prisoners so that they can rejoin society and start their lives afresh. It’s a humane act to be lauded.
Salman Khan, no stranger to legal wrangles, has himself done some time behind bars and has had the first-hand experience of the life inmates live in jails. All that, of course, is well past him now.
