Though the original hasn’t lost its sheen, the song is revised by the music composer Vishal-Shekhar and is crooned by the talented Sunidhi Chauhan for the film. So, for all those who have enjoyed the track, here’s another chance to delight in it. The revised version retains some portions from the original. This time the teens are performing on it.
But, why Disco Deewane? It’s heard that Karan Johar was quite keen to include the song in his film. According to a source, “Karan wanted the first song of the film to be a chartbuster. He was always clear that out of the six tracks for the film, Disco deewane would be the first song for the audience. His decision was approved by the entire team.”
Shot in a disc-like setting, the three main leads of the film: Alia Bhatt (daughter of Mahesh Bhatt), Varun Dhawan (son of David Dhawan) and Siddharth Malhotra (a model) can be seen getting jiggy, doing contemporary dance steps.
Out of the three it’s Varun Dhawan who impresses the most. Alia Bhatt, dressed in short red dress, looks cute. However, the one who looks natural and quite a pro in it is Sana Saeed. She is the girl who played Shahrukh Khan’s daughter Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Alas! The girl gets less footage.
Disco Deewane trivia: The song charted in 14 countries worldwide and became the best-selling Asian pop record until that time. It changed trends in music across South Asia, where it broke sales records, selling 1,00,000 records within a day of its release in Mumbai alone.
