A white chiffon saree is quintessential to the Yash Chopra heroines. Be it Sridevi or Rekha, everyone has worn it, but according to Anushka, white saree does not go with her character in the film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. “I know that there is something like an image about Yashji’s heroines but maybe I am the new age Yash Chopra heroine. There is going to be a white chiffon sarees but I am the white ganji girl and that's what I am going to be wearing,” Anushka is quoted as saying.
The Band Baaja Baarat star, who started her career with Yashraj banner’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shahrukh Khan, plays a wildlife journalist in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Ambition-driven, she is working for Discovery channel and is trying to make a documentary. Thus the stylist has given her jackets, ganjis and jeans to look the part. Also, Anushka Sharma can be seen riding a bike in the film.
Yes, she is not that a quintessential Yash Chopra heroine, but Anushka claims that she may not fit into the saree image because of the character, but “she has the same emotions so it is a Yash Chopra love.”
Though launched by the prestigious Yash Raj Films, Anushka Sharma’s career was incomplete without a Yash Chopra film. Now she is happy to be called a Yash Chopra heroine.
