Twelve years after his previous Khiladi film, Akshay Kumar returns to hard-hitting acting in his upcoming film Khiladi 786. The actor used no body doubles for his stunts. In future, he would like to pass on the Khiladi title to his son.
Actor Akshay Kumar, known as Bollywood's 'khiladi' following his on-screen daredevilry and his string of "Khiladi" films, says he would love to give the title to his 10-year-old son Aarav in future.
"I would give this title 'Khiladi' to my son after another 24 years," Akshay told reporters in Mumbai Thursday during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Khiladi 786.

He thanks filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan, who were the first to give him the title of 'khiladi' with the 1992 film of the same name.
"When I first entered the industry, they were the ones who gave me this tag 'khiladi'. It is with me since then. After that, many films were made on 'khiladi' and this ('Khiladi 786') is a 'khiladi' film I am doing after 12 years. So you can call this is a comeback film of 'khiladi'."
The 45-year-old's "Khiladi" series so far includes "Khiladi" (1992), "Main Khiladi Tu Anari" (1994), "Sabse Bada Khiladi" (1995), "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" (1996), "Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi" (1997), "International Khiladi" (1999), and "Khiladi 420" (2000).
He also made his TV debut as the host of action-adventure reality show "Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi" in 2009.
Akshay, who recently became a father to a daughter, says he has to take his 'khiladi' tag very seriously off the screen as well, thanks to his wife, Twinkle Khanna.
"I don't have any choice! My wife is a very competitive woman. If I come last, I wouldn't be greeted very well when I come back home. My daughter is six days old. By the time she grows up, I will be 50 or 52, and that time I will have to compete with all other parents who are of 30 and again my wife is going to say I have to win.
"It's going to be a challenge for me," he added.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is trying to chalk out as much time for his new little bundle of joy, as he can.
"I try to spend as much time possible (with her). As soon as I get done with my shooting and press conferences, I go and see her," the 45-year-old said.
No body doubles for 'action star' Akshay
Akshay Kumar doesn't like using body doubles for his action scenes and says that the day he is unable to carry them himself, he will stop working in such films.
"I have always done my stunt scenes on my own. I never allow anybody to do my stunts. The day I will not be able to do so, I will stop working in action films. I promise you," Akshay told reporters during the trailer launch of "Khiladi 786".
The actor, whose last hit Rowdy Rathore was a remake of a Southern film, assures that "Khiladi 786" has an original story.
"No, this film is not a remake of any South film. It's an original story," he said.
Directed by debutant Ashish Mohan, the film is co-produced by Akshay and Himesh Reshammiya and features Asin as the female lead. However, the actress gave the trailer launch a miss. It is slated for Dec 7 release. |
