Both the films enjoyed an extended weekend of six days since they hit the theatres on November 13, the Diwali Day. Jab Tak Hai Jaan pulled in crowds at multiplexes from day one, while Son Of Sardaar was all the rage at box office. As per trade reports, JTHJ, starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, has raked in Rs. 80.73 crore nett in its first six days at box office. The film is expected to enter the Rs. 100 crore club by Wednesday.
Looking at day to day business, Jab Tak Hai Jaan opened to Rs. 15.23 crore on Tuesday and peaked on Wednesday with a figure of Rs. 19.54 cr. Thursday and Friday saw a dip in the collections with Rs. 14.45 cr and Rs. 11.17 cr respectively. The death of Bal Thackeray on Saturday dented the box office collection in Maharashtra on Saturday (10.38 cr) and Sunday (9.96 cr).
Son Of Sardaar, starring Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha, released on comparatively fewer screens than JTHJ, and made approx. Rs. 66 crore nett in the first six days. The opening day saw a collection of Rs. 10.72 crore. Wednesday was the best day with a collection of Rs. 16.21 crore. The business on the remaining days was thus: Thursday 12.22 crore, Friday 10.12 crore, Saturday 8.50 crore and Sunday 8.25 crore.
The fact that there are no major releases this Friday will ensure a smoother run for both Son Of Sardaar and Jab Tak Hai Jaan in the coming days. The next big release would be the Aamir Khan-starrer Talaash on November 30.
