70th Golden Globes: Ben Affleck’s 'Argo' wins top honours
Argo and Les Miserables won the top honours, while Lincoln and Life Of Pi had to be content with just one award each at the 70th Golden Globes, seen as precursor to the Oscars.

Argo walked away with the two top honours - best film and best director - at the 70th Golden Globe awards, which was otherwise dominated by Tom Hooper's musical drama Les Miserables that clinched the maximum gongs.

"Les Miserables" won best film (musical or comedy), as well as the best actress in a supporting role for Anne Hathaway, and Hugh Jackman triumphed in the best performance by an actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy) category.

The star-studded ceremony was held here Sunday night.

It was double whammy for Ben Affleck, whose "Argo" not just won the best film award, but also helped the actor-filmmaker win the best director's gong.

Daniel Day-Lewis managed to win the best actor in a motion picture (drama) title - the only award for political drama Lincoln, which led the nomination pack with seven nominations this year. He played former US President Abraham Lincoln in the movie.

Among the actresses, Jessica Chastain secured the winner's position for her role in Zero Dark Thirty at the gala, where actress Jodie Foster was bestowed the reverred Cecil B. DeMille trophy.

In the best supporting actor in a motion picture category, Christopher Waltz received the prize for Django Unchained, which also won the best screenplay award (motion picture) for Quentin Tarantino.

Jennifer Lawrence bagged the best actress in a motion picture (musical or comedy) honour for Silver Linings Playbook.

Ang Lee's Life Of Pi, which stars Indian actors Suraj Sharma, Tabu and Irrfan Khan, won just one accolade - for composer Mychael Danna in the best original score motion picture category.

The best original song (motion picture) title went to Adele and Paul Epworth for Skyfall.

Among the best animation film nominees, "Brave", co-directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, bagged the trophy.

Austrian drama "Amour" received the the best foreign language film award, beating "A Royal Affair" (Denmark), "The Intouchables" (France), "Rust and Bone" (Belgium) and "Kon-Tiki" (Norwegian).

On the TV front, "Homeland" received three gongs - best TV series (drama), best performance by an actor in a TV series (drama) for Damian Lewis and best performance by an actress in a TV series (drama) for Claire Danes.

The best TV series (musical or comedy) was won by "Girls", with Lena Dunham picking the title of best performance by an actress in a TV series (musical or comedy) for the same show.

From the actors nominated in the same category, Don Cheadle received the award for "House of Lies".

The best actor and actress in a mini-series or a motion picture made for TV went to Kevin Costner for "Hatfields & McCoys" and Julianne Moore for "Game Change", respectively.
