It’s been a long wait for the director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Now, his first telly serial, which was almost stuck in limbo, will finally go on air.
The promo of Sanjay’s Saraswatichandra is out and just like his musical and magnificent films, the serial, too, looks a lavish affair.
The daily soap will mark Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s entry in the telly world. He was keen to foray into making serials for quite some time, and Saraswatichandra clearly bears his stamp. Going by the promo, the show looks as the next big romantic serial of Star Plus, after shows like Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon.
Saraswatichandra, based on a popular Gujarati novel with the same name, is actually a story of unrequited love. The show has colourful Gujarati setting, similar to Sanjay’s film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and is made on a big scale as Sanjay Leela Bhansali likes to portray grandeur and richness of Indian culture.
The bubbly TV actress Jennifer Winget is expected to make a comeback with this show, while the popular host Gautam Rode reportedly plays the main lead.
The soap opera in all probability will go on air this February 18, and now, it’s heard that Star Plus is planning to give Saraswatichandra the 8 pm slot in place of Kaali - Ek Punar Avatar.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new love story is in the form of a serial. Watch the promo:
