Coincidentally, Richa Chadda, who was Huma Qureshi’s co-actress in Gangs Of Wasseypur, was also in the race, but Huma has been finalized. Earlier, the role was supposed to be done by Kangna Ranaut.
As a source tells a tabloid, “Earlier Kangs was signed for the film but there was a problem regarding her dates that were overlapping with the ones for Sai Kabir’s next. Kangna Ranaut could not accommodate Vishal’s film.”
Actually, director Abhishek Chaubey wanted to start the film, titled Dedh Ishqiya, only after he was sure of the script, and it took quite long for him to finish it. Now as he is ready with the script, the movie is all set to roll anytime soon. Dedh Ishqiya will reportedly also star Madhuri Dixit in the lead.
But why Huma Qureshi and not Richa Chadda? The two were reportedly close in competition, but Huma pipped Richa to bag Ishqiya sequel, since she has already worked under Vishal Bhardwaj’s banner for Kannan Iyer’s Ek Thi Daayan.
The film is expected to go on floors in February with a shoot in Lucknow.
