Aishwarya Rai is a doting mom to an year-old daughter Aaradhya Bachchan and she says one must not discriminate between children on the basis of gender.
The Bachchans recently came out in full force to lend financial support to charity organisation Plan India for their Girl Child Campaign. Amitabh Bachchan's birthday Oct 11 has been declared as International Day of the Girl Child by the United Nations. And it’s a proud moment for the family.
Talking to reporters Abhishek Bachchan said he feels that the girl child should be celebrated every day and not just one day of the year.
Aishwarya Rai went a step further and said: “It is the birthright of every child to be enabled and empowered in life... we collectively feel attention needs to be given to every child, period, irrespective of what gender it belongs to.”

Aishwarya Rai’s daughter Aaradhya was missing from the event. But her mom-in-law Jaya Bachchan felt that it would have been better to have Aaradhya give away the cheques for charity.
“I was just telling Aishwarya it didn't occur to me before, we would have got Aaradhya and she would have given the cheque,” Jaya Bachchan said.
