Unfortunately, Bollywood’s ‘it’ girl Deepika Padukone is more often in the news for her alleged link-ups with two of her good-looking co-stars -- Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh -- than her films. But are these rumours a part of building on-screen chemistry for her upcoming romantic films?
While talking to a daily, the actress said that on-screen chemistry can’t be created. Does that mean it should be natural? “There ought to be a certain comfort level with your co-star, otherwise there’s no chemistry on screen. The audience can see through that… Personally too I enjoy working with people who I can be comfortable with,” says Deepika, who feels her equation with every co-star differs.
It can be recalled how Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who signed Deepika Padukone as Gujarati Juliet opposite the desi Romeo Ranveer Singh, decreed that the two young actors should meet often to get to know each other, and even conducted a workshop for the duo because he wanted a great chemistry between the two. All these efforts of the perfectionist filmmaker may light up the silver screen in Ram Leela as it also simultaneously paved the way for growing proximity between Deepika and Ranveer.
And when asked about her chemistry with ex beau Ranbir Kapoor, her co-actor in another romantic outing Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, the actress doesn’t deny that she shares a certain comfort level with him which makes it all the more fun working with the actor.
It can be recalled that Deepika wasn’t initially willing to sign Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani because it starred Ranbir Kapoor, but after a few meetings with the director Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir, she was all charged up to be a part of the film.
Deepika Padukone says that luckily for her films all the chemistry on paper got translated well on screen. Ahem!
