Once again, Shahrukh Khan seems to have sworn off the micro-blogging site Twitter which he was so fondly using to connect with fans until SRK-haters swamped him with abusive comments.
It’s no secret that celebrities have to often put up with a lot of slurs, taunts and insults from online irritants that are not few in number by any count. Things seem to have come to a head with Shahrukh Khan who has been away from Twitter for as long as two months now.
Buzz is that the actor was flooded with abusive comments after his article in the Outlook magazine in which he spoke about being a Muslim in India and how his patriotism is at times doubted by some bigots and vested interests. Following the article, there was a lot of hue and cry when SRK’s comments were misconstrued and he was seen as loyal to Pakistan.
The superstar’s last tweet that came on January 9 is loaded with meaning.
“Sad, I read so much judgements, jingoism, religious intolerance on the net & I used to think, this platform will change narrowmindedness, but no!” Shahrukh Khan wrote.
The tweet does hint that he might have sworn off micro-blogging yet again. He had previously quit Twitter about two years back after abusive comments but rejoined when Ra.One director Anubhav Sinha prodded him to reconnect with his fans.
We’re sure a lot of his fans want him to return to Twitter. If you are one of them, speak your mind in the comments section below.
