|Shahrukh Khan has decided a toned-down item song in his upcoming film Chennai Express. Is CBFC’s new decree to rate item songs under ‘A’ rating to be blamed for this?
It’s learnt that Shahrukh Khan’s only instruction to the choreographer Raju Sundaram was to make the song fun but not raunchy. “Shahrukh in any case has a family image. But now with all eyes of the moral police focused on item songs, he has decided not to go anywhere close to raunchy,” a source tells a tabloid.
The song will feature South hottie Priyamani, who also happens to be Bollywood actress Vidya Balan’s cousin. Priyamani has done films like Raavan and Rakht Charitra in the past, but the Chennai Express song is going to be her first Bollywood item number.
Earlier, the item song was supposed to be choreographed by Prabhu Deva, but as Shahrukh Khan was keen on a sober song with non-risque movements, Prabhu Deva’s elder brother Raju Sundaram was asked to come on board. Raju, too is a known name in choreographing, and he is the same man who amused all with this funny antics and dance in the video of the pop song Kya Surat Hai by Bombay Vikings.
It’s even said that the South actress Nayanthara was the original choice for the item song, but it eventually fell into Priyamani’s lap.
Chennai Express, starring Deepika Padukone in the lead role, and directed by Rohit Shetty, will release on Eid this year.
