|The cause of saving water this Holi came with the risk of physical assault for Bollywood actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar.
Since the state of Maharashtra is facing a drought situation, many celebrities opted either not to celebrate Holi at all, or celebrate a dry Holi, without any waste of water. Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who’s played negative and comedic roles in films, was part of a show to encourage the cause of saving water.
However, when Amrapurkar, a resident of Panchdhara Society at Yari road, learnt of a rain dance Holi party in the neighbouring building Panchvati, he informed the channel people.
“The society had the DJ and rain dance since 9.30 am. They have wasted so much water. I had informed the news channel about this, as they had invited me to be part of their show,” Amrapurkar is quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.
Reportedly, things got out of hand when the TV channel team arrived at Panchvati. A bunch of inebriated people not just assaulted the cameraman, they roughed up Amrapurkar too.
The actor says he was “abused and assaulted”.
The Versova police has reportedly filed a case of assault and rioting against the accused after taking Amrapurkar’s statement. The cameraman was taken to Cooper hospital for medical treatment.
