Sanjay Dutt may be serving his sentence of three-and-a-half years in Pune’s Yerwada Jail, but he’s got big hopes pinned to his upcoming film Policegiri.
The trailer of the film, directed by K.S. Ravikumar, has been released and it shows Sanjay Dutt doing gravity defying stunts and slambang action a la Salman Khan in Dabangg. In Policegiri, Dutt plays a police inspector who resorts to unlawful ways to make the baddies toe the line.
According to director K.S. Ravikumar, Dutt is happy with the way Policegiri has turned out.
“He was happy with the way the film shaped up. He said he will be happy to know that the film did well. He had told all of us that he would be happy if the film does Rs 100 crore (business)," director K S Ravikumar is quoted as saying by PTI.
Recalling the experience of working with the 53-year-old actor, Ravikumar said Sanjay Dutt is a director’s actor who was mostly jolly on the sets, but also a bit moody at times.
Policegiri is the only film with Dutt in the leading role to release while the actor is lodged in Yerwada Jail. His other films, Zanjeer and Peekay have him in marginal roles. In fact, he was also slated to make a cameo appearance in Ghanchakkar, but it was scrapped due to time constraint.
