Priyanka Chopra has started working on her body to look fit as she essays the character of Mary Kom in a biopic based on the sportswoman and pugilist. However, the actress will not use any prosthetics to look similar to the boxer.
Not too long ago, Priyanka Chopra’s images with prosthetic make-up were doing the rounds of the internet. Actually, the actress went through a look test for the role of Mary Kom, and a Hollywood make-up artist was hired for the task. The artist made PC’s eyelids look heavier to give her perfect oriental features, but later the makers felt that the actress need not resemble Mary Kom in the movie.
On the contrary, Priyanka Chopra wanted to connect closely with Mary Kom on both the emotional and physical level, and as per reports it was she herself who got a prosthetics test done in the US with the American make-up artist Mark Garbarino. The make-up man later even accused the production house for not paying him for his job.
It’s learnt that producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali and director Omung Kumar mutually felt that it’s better to avoid the use of prosthetics on Priyanka and keep her natural looks as it is for the film. Moreover, the makers were also worried that those prosthetics might not hold during the fight sequences.
“Priyanka may end up looking like a caricature avatar of Mary Kom…The best way to approach Mary Kom’s role would be to not try too hard to look like her. So no prosthetics,” a source is quoted as saying by a tabloid.
The makers have roped in Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies VFX for the fight sequences in the film.
