Ram Gopal Varma, who launched Jiah Khan to stardom with his controversial film Nishabd, was conspicuous by his absence when Jiah’s last rites were performed. However, the director was very much present at the condolence meeting held by Jiah’s family, and presented them a two-minute film as a tribute to the pretty actress.
Jiah Khan’s suicide came as a big shock to Ramu. The director is finding it hard to believe that someone as young as Jiah is just dead. The maverick has made a two-minute film for the actress, titled The Reel & The Reality Of Jiah. In the film, made out of a few scenes from Nishabd, the director has tried to capture Jiah’s innocence and her vivacity. Seeing the film, Jiah’s family was deeply moved by the sweet gesture of Ramu.
Ram Gopal Varma says, “I couldn’t bring myself to attend any memorial for Jiah. For me she will always be alive. I decided to put together this tribute. When I was looking at her in Nishabd again I was struck by how spontaneous she was onscreen... and not the least intimidated by Mr Bachchan! I can’t believe she is gone.”
The director even regrets not working with the actress again, and says that he couldn’t come up with a role to equal Jiah’s talent. The director wished Jiah could follow her on screen philosophy of Nishabd to her own life which is to “take light”.
