The former lovers Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor were about to clash at the box office with their films Gori Tere Pyaar Mein and Rambo Rajkumar releasing on the same date. However, the clash has been averted!
Kareena Kapoor’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein was supposed to release on November 15, alongside Shahid Kapoor’s Rambo Rajkumar, directed by the hit-maker Prabhu Deva, but figuring out the consequences of the box office tussle, the Gori Tere Pyaar Mein producer Karan Johar has pushed his film by a week. Now, the finalized release date of GTPM is November 22.
As per sources, it’s good that both the films will see solo releases. “Both films are solid in their own way. Brand Karan Johar is huge in its own way, especially after ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. Moreover, with Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan in lead with Punit Malhotra as a director, any publicity - whether positive or negative - due to clash with the Shahid Kapoor starrer was best avoided,” a source is quoted as saying.
If Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is Kareena’s first romantic film after her marriage, Rambo Rajkumar is Shahid’s first movie with Prabhu Deva. It’s obvious that stakes are high as both the films are backed by big banners.
For Shahid Kapoor’s Rambo Rajkumar, which is co-produced by Eros and Viki Rajani, a solo release (on November 15), is the best bet, claim sources. Also, Shahid is getting a makeover in this film and will be seen as the hero of the masses.
Kareena and Shahid were also headed for a BO battle with the release of Satyagraha and Phata Poster Nikla Hero. Both the films were initially releasing on August 23. Incidentally, this time it was Shahid’s film that got postponed. His Phata Poster Nikla Hero, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi will now hit the theatres on September 20. Kareena’s Satyagraha is releasing as per schedule, on August 23.
