Shuddh Desi Romance starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and debutante Vaani Kapoor, was earlier planned for a September 13 release, but after being invited to TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) for a Gala Red Carpet premiere, taking place on September 11, YRF decided to release it on September 6, instead of 13.
Interestingly, the new release date of Shuddh Desi Romance coincides with Ram Charan Teja’s Zanjeer, also starring Priyanka Chopra. The much-hyped movie, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s superhit Zanjeer (1973), is already delayed, and was supposed to hit the theaters in May, but later got shifted to September 6.
While Shuddh Desi Romance is a love story set in the desi hinterland about one guy and two girls, Zanjeer is an actioner about an inspector and his fight against oil mafia. Though both the movies are poles apart in their content, their target audience remains the youth. So, in that situation, which movie seems to have an edge over the other?
Comparing the Chopra sisters, Parineeti Chopra seems to have a meatier part in Shuddh Desi Romance as a bold, independent small-town girl in comparison to Priyanka Chopra’s role of a glam NRI girl in Zanjeer. Don’t you think so?
