Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film Besharam did not show any sign of a turnaround on Friday. The film’s collection dipped further on the third day of its running.
As per early estimates, the film’s Friday collection ranges between Rs. 5.75 crore to Rs. 6 crore net, which is even below the film’s Thursday business of Rs. 7.13 crore net. Looking at the graph, one sees a crash of 66 percent on Day 2 and another 15 percent downfall on Day 3. Coming after a good opening of Rs. 21.56 crore net on Wednesday, it’s a real shocker.
The negative buzz about the film built up since its trailer hit the web. Many fans disliked the promos and songs and even Ranbir Kapoor admitted that he was aware of the negative buzz.
Now, director Abhinav Singh Kashyap has alleged that certain vested interests are trying to bring his film down.
“The collection might drop in the normal course of events as Thursday is a working day. But, then there are people who actually read reviews and tweets before deciding to go for a movie. And I am worried that these negative comments might actually have an impact on the film's fate at the box-office,” Kashyap told Mumbai Mirror in an interview.
The critics haven’t been kind to the film either, with a majority of them panning it outright.
Now, only a miraculous turnaround on Saturday and Sunday can salvage some good collections for the film. We will wait and watch.
