Ranbir Kapoor’s latest release Besharam has flopped with a little over Rs. 47 crore in its extended weekend run at the box office.
The movie by Abhinav Singh Kashyap kept going down from its second day onwards and hit rock bottom on Saturday. Sunday, being a holiday, expectedly saw some improvement.
The first five-day figures of the film are: Wednesday Rs. 21.56 crore, Thursday 7.13 crore, Friday 5.68 crore, Saturday 5.94crore, Sunday is estimated at Rs. 7 crore. The numbers tot up to 47.31 crore which is way below the mark.
Besharam has been panned by critics because of its cheap humour and tacky production value. Even though the film’s director Abhinav Singh Kashyap has alleged that some vested interests are trying to bring his film down, the box office numbers speak for themselves.
On Monday morning, the film had just 10 percent occupancy at many centres, which means a steep fall from its Sunday collection.
The coming Friday would see the release of War Chhod Na Yaar. The next big release of October will be Akshay Kumar’s Boss on October 16.
