Boney Kapoor was contemplating a film with beta Arjun Kapoor for quite some time. When Arjun finally allotted his dates to dad’s production, the question was: who will be his leading lady? After a mad hunt, the makers have zeroed in on Sonakshi Sinha.
Boney Kapoor is producing the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Okkadu with Arjun and Sonakshi. Both the actors have never been paired opposite each other, thus will bring novelty to the film. Though Sona shares a good chemistry with senior actors like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar on big screen, she is also keen to work with actors of her age-group. Her last outing with a young actor was Lootera, which garnered rave reviews. Also, Sonakshi’s next is with Shahid Kapoor.
Okkadu, released in 2003, was a superhit starring Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika Chawla. Its Hindi remake will be made on a big scale, and Boney has roped in newcomer Amit Sharma to direct it. This young director already has his share of fame for his hit Google search Reunion ad, which went viral on the web for its moving content.
Amit Sharma tells a tabloid, “I was approached for the movie before people saw the Google ad. I guess people, with whom I had worked, had spoken to Boney about me. He told me about the movie and things fell into place.”
The Okkadu remake will be co-produced by Sanjay Kapoor, and will go on the floors only next year as both Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor are busy with their respective projects. Sonakshi even has two upcoming films R… Rajkumar and Bullett Raja, releasing around the same time, while Arjun is busy with a YRF film and 2 States screen adaptation.
