|The sequel of the much-praised OMG Oh My God! may be without Akshay Kumar. Hard to believe, isn’t it!
As per trade insiders, chances of Akshay, who played Lord Krishna in the original, featuring in the sequel are highly slim. The work on the movie has started, and director Umesh Shukla will once again don the director’s cap and Paresh Rawal will again be the main protagonist.
Producers Viacom 18 has shown trust and is backing the movie. So while everything has fallen into place, why is Akshay Kumar missing from the movie. Is it because of his dates?
When OMG Oh My God! released, both Paresh and Umesh were gung-ho about Akshay returning to the sequel. At that time, during an interview when the director Umesh Shukla was asked whether Akshay will be part of the new project too, Umesh had said, “Yes, Akshay will be part of the sequel. In fact, he is part of our team. We will have to check Akshay’s dates but it’s too early to think about that. We have to finalise the script first.”
Whether Akshay will join the cast of the sequel is a big question now? We think he should as he was superb as the fun-loving, wise, modern Lord Krishna. Also, his fans just loved his God-avatar.
OMG Oh My God! sequel will once again deal with religion. Director Umesh Shukla has said that the sequel will be a fresh film and not a continuation of OMG.
Akshay Kumar’s last film Boss couldn’t set the cash registers ringing at the BO, and his forthcoming films are also mass entertainers. A film like OMG Oh My God! sequel would be a nice change for the audiences, who seem disenchanted with his massy hero image.
