Sonakshi Sinha completely mesmerized her fans and detractors with her sterling performance in Lootera. Now, it’s heard that her portrayal of a Bengali girl in the movie has caught the fancy of a New York theatre group.
Lootera is a special movie for Sonakshi Sinha, and the actress is glad that her performance hasn’t gone unnoticed. She recently expressed her displeasure over the fewer nominations movie has got this year at award functions, and tweeted, “Disheartening how 'Lootera' has been held back from most of the nominations this year. Didn't they call it a masterpiece, poetry in motion, world-class and technically superior film when it released? That seems like qualification enough to be out there."
About her being approached for the theatre Mecca Broadway production, a source tells a daily, “A theatre group based in New York has approached her for a Broadway adaption of O. Henry's 'The Last Leaf'. She recently got a call from them and is really excited about it.”
As we know, the second half of Lootera was based on O. Henry's short story The Last Leaf. Sonakshi Sinha is now checking her date diary to accommodate the theatre production.
It’s learnt that the play's Broadway run is planned for the coming summer, and Sonakshi Sinha is willing to do it. The actress’ spokesperson has confirmed the news and said that she will take a call soon.
To be a part of Broadway drama is a coveted thing as many Hollywood A-listers often perform in the theatre district of New York.
