The sequel of Singham is going to be co-produced by Ajay Devgn along with Rohit Shetty. Rohit has reportedly been keen on signing Kareena Kapoor for the sequel, and offered her the role even before Chennai Express hit the theatres.
But later after going through the movie’s script, the director felt that the role meant for Kareena was too small for an A-list actress, and it wouldn’t justify her star status. So he decided not to cast her. It was even being said that the TV actress Drashti Dhami might be roped in for Singham 2.
Now, as the cast of the film has been finalized, the makers have also confirmed Kareena Kapoor as the heroine of Singham 2. Apparently, the role has been rewritten and the character better fleshed out. The actress too recently revealed that she is quite excited to play the role of a Maharashtrian girl (in Singham 2) for the first time.
For the sequel, the makers have cast a new villain. Replacing Prakash Raj in the role of the baddie will be writer-director Amole Gupte who played the role of a villain in Shahid Kapoor’s Kaminey. Amole is said to be a very big fan of Rohit Shetty’s films, and is glad to do a film with him.
Singham 2 is expected to go on the floors around mid-March.
