For all those eagerly waiting for TV star Barun Sobti’s Bollywood debut here is good news. The actor finally gets his major break and is signed by John Abraham for his production Satra Ko Shaadi Hai.
Barun Sobti quit TV for a career in Bollywood. Even though he has worked in two films post his hit show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, both are stuck in limbo. While he has already shot for Adeeb Rais’s film, Main Aur Mr. Riight, co-starring Shenaz Treasurywala, the movie is yet to see the light of day.
Meanwhile, John Abraham and director Shoojit Sircar were looking for young talents for their small-budget film Satra Ko Shaadi Hai and zeroed in on Barun to play the lead. Along with Barun, model Sapna Pabbi has also been signed. The actress was last seen in the show 24 as Anil Kapoor’s teenage daughter.
John Abraham will produce the film through his JA Entertainment with Sircar’s Rising Sun Films. Satra Ko Shaadi Hai revolves around a big fat chaos-filled Indian wedding, set in Bhopal. It is the story of an IT boy from Mumbai, who meets a pretty girl from Bhopal on a matrimonial website and decides to tie the knot with her.
The boy and girl get engaged and the date their wedding -- the 17th March in Bhopal -- gets fixed. What follows next is the chaos and madness as the countdown to the wedding begins.
Shoojit Sircar is excited for the film, and says, “It's about two different families, their problems, confusions and disputes...all the drama, tension and humour comes tumbling out. Should be fun.”
