Aamir Khan remembers school punishments |

Often dubbed as the most intelligent actor in Hindi film industry, Aamir Khan surprisingly didn’t excel in studies in his school days. In fact, he often used to miss on his homework because he was more inclined towards playing games. As a result, he often was at the receiving end of punishment by his teachers.

“When in school, kneeling down in front of the principal's office was a regular feature. I have also been caned a couple of times. It is strange that when you get caned, you don't realise the pain instantly, but after two seconds it shoots so badly... It's awful,” Aamir told reporters in Delhi while promoting his upcoming film 3 Idiots with co-stars Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.

The film, inspired from Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘Five Point Someone’, has Aamir playing a rebellious guy Rancho who revolts against the dictatorial style of teaching in an elite institute.

Recalling his school days, Aamir said he used to get poor marks in tests and exams.

“I used to be more interested in sports and hence used to always forget doing my homework. Also, poor marks used to create problems for me. I used to get scolded very often,” Aamir revealed.

Surprisingly, Aamir didn’t have much of college life. After his school days he straightaway began his career in Bollywood.

“My education has only been till 12th standard because after that I got into films…Because of this, I didn't have a very rocking college life. But during the shoot of '3 idiots' I lived the moments of a student's life and enjoyed the way students do,” Aamir said.

Talking about ‘3 Idiots’, Aamir said the movie questions our perception of what success is.

“It questions what success is. It questions what a child really wants to do. It raises various issues important to this generation…However, it's told in a humorous way because that's how Rajkumar Hirani makes his films,” said the perfectionist Khan.

'3 Idiots' is set to release this Christmas. The film has Kareena Kapoor as Aamir’s leading lady.
