Ben Kingsley visits Taj Mahal with wife
Even as he’s in the middle of casting actors for his ambitious project on Taj Mahal, Oscar winning British actor Sir Ben Kingsley visited the monument of love with his wife Daniela Lavender on Wednesday.

With a vermillion teeka on his forehead, Sir Ben, dressed in a silver grey overcoat, spent about 2 hours at Taj Mahal in Agra and also posed for several pics in front of the monument along with his wife, who looked every bit an Indian, clad in a red, embroidered suit and wearing jewellery, bangles, and bindi, et al.

In his proposed project, the 67-year-old actor plans to play the ageing Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He plans to cast his wife Daniela as Kandhari Begum, Shah Jahan's first wife of Persian origin. And Aishwarya Rai has been approached to play the young Mumtaz Mahal, in whose memory Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal.

The film will reportedly be made at a budget of $25-27 million. The script is ready and the casting is underway. If things go as planned, the shooting might begin early in 2010.

Sir Ben was in Goa for the International Film Festival of India. During his India visit he also plans to raise funds for the film on Taj.
