He may have rued the absence of Kareena Kapoor in his first home production Love Aaj Kal, but Saif Ali Khan is mighty impressed by the work Deepika Padukone has done. It seems director Imtiaz Ali was right to choose Deepika over Kareena for the film.

“Her (Deepika’s) work in the film is phenomenal. She's left her stamp on the role. No one else could have played it to such perfection,” Saif told reporters while promoting the film recently.

When asked about the cold vibes he shared with Deepika while shooting the movie in London, Saif did not mince his words in replying: “I've never been one to socialise with my co-stars. I never chat them up on the sets because I believe in giving them their space and privacy.”

Royal manners taken from his dad, eh?

However, how come Deepika hasn’t been seen at the ‘Love Aaj Kal’ promotional events?

“She’s been shooting (for House Full) in London and has been unwell. Also, I am at a stage in my career when I can take a month off…while the others can't do that just yet,” Saif courteously explained.

What makes ‘Love Aaj Kal’ most dear to Saif is that it’s his first home production. Though we may know him to be a rockstar, Saif makes it clear that his company Illuminati Films will make movies “that you can watch with your mother and sister.”

Even Kareena Kapoor has come out in full support of ‘Love Aaj Kal’, calling it as much her film as Saif’s. She even went to the extent of saying that she wants ‘Love Aaj Kal’ to break all box-office records and rake in more moolah than her own block-buster Kambakkht Ishq.

Well, that’s love today.
