Kaminey has run into legal trouble after an FIR (First Information Report) was filed against the movie’s director Vishal Bhardwaj and producer UTV Motion Pictures for allegedly denigrating Lord Jagannath in a scene in the film.
In the first half there’s a scene when Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur are quarrelling and to get away from the squabble he locks himself up in a squalid toilet. Outside the toilet door is written ‘Apna Haath Jagannath’ along with the photo of a semi nude model.
We’re sure all the readers know what the expression means but those who don’t can make a wild guess.
Anyway, this toilet joke hasn’t gone well with Jagannath Sena Sangathan in Puri.
“Lord Jagannath has been shown in poor light in the movie. In a scene, it has been written 'Apna Hath Jagannath' in the toilet with a semi-clad model under the writing. It has hurt the sentiments of Jagannath devotees,” a member of the Sangathan told IANS.
An FIR has reportedly been filed accusing the director and producer of ‘Kaminey’ of hurting religious sentiments. The Sangathan also protested in Puri and submitted a memorandum before the state governor through the district collector.
Reports say the objectionable scene has been deleted from the prints released in Orissa.
