Hit tracks and peppy lyrics
This year saw a tide of Bollywood songs that had new sounds and irreverent lyrics. In the beginning of the year the song which caught everyone’s fancy with its unusual, double meaning lyrics was Bhaag DK Bose from the film Delhi Belly. Purists derided the track but the masses lapped it up gleefully. And even at the end of the year the crowd is dancing to the tune of not an item song, not a Bollywood number, but a sleeper hit from a Tamil film Why This Kolaveri Di.
The year also had its item songs. If not Malaika Arora, Mallika Sherawat gyrated to Jalebi Bai. Kareena Kapoor enticed with her Chammak Challo track and then we had two hunks Akshay Kumar and John Abraham seducing the ladies in the song Subah Hone Na De. Not just the hunks, the glamourous model Lisa Haydon, too, was an ultimate seductress with her lethal hip movements in Shake It Saiyaan.
And last but not the least, how can we forget the track Ooh La La which stirred the fantasy of many Indian males. Here’s featuring the best musical tracks of the year 2011:
