Emraan Hashmi, the actor who has worked on his own terms in Bollywood without ever kowtowing to the pressure of commercial compulsions, celebrates his birthday today. He turns 33.
Emraan Hashmi is presently busy promoting his upcoming film Jannat 2 in which he plays an arms dealer. On Friday he celebrated his birthday with the media at the music launch of Jannat 2. A visibly joyous Hashmi also cut a birthday cake.
Today, he plans to spend the day with his wife Parveen and son Ayaan. He will return to work on Sunday.
Emraan was just 18 years old when he made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with Footpath. His first big success came in the following year with Murder with Mallika Sherawat. It was the film that established Emraan as a serious actor and also the serial kisser. In almost every film that followed, Emraan Hashmi invariably locked lips with his heroines.
His next big hit was Gangster in 2006. By a strange coincidence, the music of every Emraan Hashmi film has found favour with his fans. Over the years, he also moved away from his uncles Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt’s production house Vishesh Films, and was seen in the Balaji superhit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai in 2010. Last year, he was seen in two hit films: Murder 2 and The Dirty Picture.
This year, Emraan is looking forward to Jannat 2, Shanghai and Rush. He will also be shooting for films like Rajkumar Gupta’s Ghanchakkar and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Daayan.
