Cocktail of love and friendship
A love triangle is not something new in Bollywood, but when the trailer of the movie Cocktail started doing the rounds, it generated much hype in the virtual world. With Saif Ali Khan as the crazy lover boy, Deepika Padukone as a wild, sexy babe, and the newcomer Diana Penty as the simple, homely girl, the movie Cocktail does look like a deadly, heady mix. So, what’s the funda behind the movie’s title Cocktail?
The new series of posters of Cocktail featuring the individual characters of Gautam (Saif), Veronica (Deepika) and Meera (Diana) are out, showing how different the three are from each other. Saif Ali Khan explains that the title ‘Cocktail’ is apt because the film is really the blend of the three very distinct characters. His character of Gautam is crazy and shakes up the house, Veronica is the sexy wild child who stirs up everything, and a simple, awkward Meera adds a twist between what’s shaken and stirred!
For Deepika Padukone, the film is a combination of love and friendship. “It’s about three very different characters who love each other, hate each other, and when all three are mixed in correct proportions they can give you a deadly HIGH!” says Deepika, who plays Veronica D’Costa in the film.
Model Diana Penty is making her Bollywood debut with this movie and plays the character of Meera Gupta. The newbie can’t think of anything else apart from the title ‘Cocktail’ for the film. The official trailer, launched on 21 May 2012, got an exceptional response from the critics and audiences, crossing 1 million hits on YouTube within 3 days. Thus the expectations are quite huge from Cocktail which is releasing on July 13.
