Among all those who attended Rajesh Khanna’s prayer meet there was also a face who everyone knows as Kaka’s ex-girlfriend, the lady whom he dated for almost seven years. The yesteryear actress and a known face on TV, Anju Mahendroo was spotted marching in at the venue of Rajesh Khanna’s prayer meet.

Surprisingly, the actress didn’t care much for the media glares, and met the members of the Khanna household and expressed her condolences. Dressed in white churidaar suit with sunglasses resting on her head, she looked calm and composed.

Insiders even reveal that at Aashirwaad (Rajesh Khanna’s bungalow) where the legend passed away on Wednesday morning, Anju Mahendroo too was seen along with the deceased star’s estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and daughter Twinkle Khanna. Mahendroo was spotted consoling Twinkle. The onlookers were surprised to see the two ladies coming together for the funeral of Rajesh Khanna.

In spite of her split with Khanna way back in 1972, Anju Mahendroo is to date referred to as his ex-flame. The actress, who was also a model and a fashion designer when she started her career in Bollywood, dated Khanna from 1966 to 1972. They split on a bitter note, and soon Khanna married the 16-year-old Dimple Kapadia the next year, six months before her first film Bobby released.

It’s even believed that after parting ways with Khanna, Anju Mahendroo’s Bollywood career couldn’t take off the way it was expected. Rumours have it that the superstar went out of his way to sabotage Mahendroo’s career. Nevertheless, the actress was seen as a side-heroine in various films and also went on to do several TV shows. Nowadays, she can be seen in the serial Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai. She last appeared in the role of a film journalist Naila in the movie The Dirty Picture.
