Life Of Pi
As amazing as it can look! The Academy Award winning director of Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame, Ang Lee is all set to release his visual extravaganza Life Of Pi -- a movie adaptation of best-selling novel of the same name written by Yann Martel -- this November. Starring Delhi boy Suraj Sharma, along with Irrfan Khan, Tabu and Sonu Sood, the movie also stars the ‘Spiderman’ Tobey Maguire.
However, none of these actors can be seen in the trailer, as it solely belongs to the young Pi Patel, played by Suraj Sharma, and his friend, a Bengal Tiger. The movie which is going to be released in 3D looks spectacular in many ways. Ang Lee, who is a master story teller, captures the emotions of the stranded boy like a beautiful child-book filled with colorful and interesting pictures. Check out how when trying to save his life from the doomed ship, Pi encounters a zebra swimming towards him. Also the bird’s-eye view of Pi when he finds himself all alone in the vast sea, marooned with just a boat.
The trailer is just a glimpse of what looks like a magnificent 3D film. The last few seconds of the first promo also show Pi among people, but everything still remains a mystery. What one can sense from the trailer is that it’s a story of adventure, hope and friendship that, above all, shows the relationship between man and the nature in a new light, from the eyes of Pi.
Irrfan Khan plays the adult Pi Patel. The story of the book Life Of Pi goes like this: An Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper's son, finds himself in the company of a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and a Bengal tiger after a shipwreck and sets them adrift in the Pacific Ocean. How he survives fighting all the odds makes rest of the story.
Catch the first trailer, a visual delight, of the film Life Of Pi starring debutant Suraj Sharma.
