Gangs of Wasseypur 2
While watching the making of movies and songs, we usually see all the hard work put in by the actors and the directors! However, the making of Electric Piya from Gangs of Wasseypur 2 shows what all fun and troubles music composer Sneha Khanwalkar went through while composing the awesome song!
Though Electric Piya sounds like a usual wedding folk song, in reality, the number has more to it: the song describes the political condition of Bihar! Pay special heed to the lyrics ‘taar bijli se patle hamare piya, oh re saasu bata tune ye kya kiya’! Although it fully describes the character of Faizal Khan played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the song has a political tilt to it and lambasts the government for what they have done to their state! No wonder Anurag Kashyap has a creative team functioning by his side!
What would amaze you the most is the fact that how far Sneha Khanwalkar went to find suitable singers for the chorus of this song! She went to a temple near the recording studio and brought all those ladies singing in the temple to the studio, who were not even trained singers! Do have a look at how one of those ladies was enjoying herself while recording this song! She was singing like no one is watching! Wink.
