Zero Dark Thirty
Hollywood film Zero Dark Thirty, which has already released in some parts of the world, will release in India on February 1; and considering the rave reviews the film has garnered, this will perhaps be the longest wait for Indian cinephiles.
One can vouch for the fact that the Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow, who helmed the direction of The Hurt Locker, is all set to sweep some major awards this time too with Zero Dark Thirty. The aspect that works tremendously in favour of the film is its mass appeal and sensitive plot.
Zero Dark Thirty brings to the big screen a chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May, 2011. It has been reported in the past that the film’s team worked their socks off to get the details correct and interviewed eye-witnesses and officers involved in this operation.
Meanwhile, one can also remember how local Indians in Chandigarh protested against the film’s shoot when some parts of the city were redesigned to look like Lahore and Abbottabad, Pakistan, where Osama bin Laden was hunted down and killed in May 2011.
A remarkable director, a notable cast and an international appeal, Zero Dark Thirty is certainly a winner in all respects. Catch the trailer of the film below and some stills on the following pages.
