Groovy disco mix
When Sajid Khan decided to remake Jeetendra-Sridevi’s hit in 2012, he thought of keeping almost everything similar including the name of the film, its songs and the look for his new Himmatwala. However, the director made an exception by including an item song -- a disco track starring Sonakshi Sinha.
Now, after hearing so much about the song, it’s time to watch it, and find out how Sonakshi Sinha fares in it. The video of the song is out, and according to us it’s the best thing about the film seen so far because the rest of the garish retro songs may not suit the contemporary tastes, but this disco track will find its takers among the youngsters for its perky, zippy tune.
Sonakshi Sinha has done the full justice to the song, and is looking much slimmer. Her look for the song is inspired from Parveen Babi’s song in Shaan and Sridevi’s look in Chaalbaaz. The actress will also be seen doing Michael Jackson’s famous moonwalk step in the video.
No wonder, Sonakshi was the first and only choice of Sajid Khan for this number. Without her, he would not have done this retro track, admits Sajid.
Sung by the versatile Sunidhi Chauhan, the track is picturised in the style of the golden era of disco, and is composed by Sachin Jigar. The composition doesn’t impress much, but the lyrics of the song -- Thank God it’s Friday -- will strike the right chord with the listeners. Yes! that’s what makes the song catchy.
