Alive and kicking!
The taming of the strew! The Himmatwala makers have finally released the fun-filled song Bum Pe Laat where Ajay Devgn can be seen teasing Tamannaah -- the hunterwaali.
Till now you have watched Ajay and Tamannaah dancing to the colourful, kitschy tracks, and romancing in the songs like Taki O Taki or Tathaiya Tathaiya. Now watch the hero teaching the heroine how to give someone tit-for-tat, which means Bum Pe Laat.
The song begins with Tamannaah whiplashing a poor man and spouting Sridevi’s famous dialogue from the original, I hate garibs at someone’s wedding. But then there is a himmatwala (savior of poor people) for every hunterwaali (rich and spoiled), teaching her how to behave. And Ajay, with the help of kids, perfectly carries off the task, not only singing Bum Pe Laat, but actually kicking the bottoms of the snobs gathered at the wedding.
The situational track is composed by Sajid-Wajid and is well sung by Shaan. The track also reminds us of the film Mr. India where Sridevi is bullied by kids and Anil Kapoor. It seems the masala movie by Sajid Khan is not only a remake of the 80s hit, but also seeks inspiration from other movies of that era.
While we liked the picturisation and, especially, Tamannaah -- she is the one who steals the show -- the song has nothing new to offer.
