Not fooling you! April isn’t really going to be a terrific month at the movies for the fans, save for a few interesting offers like Nautanki Saala! and Ek Thi Daayan.
The onset of the T20 cricket jamboree IPL is partly the reason why the big banners are shying away from releasing their films this month. Yet, movie makers like Ekta Kapoor, Vishal Bhardwaj, Rohan Sippy and even David Dhawan seem sure to go against the tide and grab eyeballs with their films.
There’s a reason behind their optimism. The first three seasons of IPL did dent the collections at the box office, but the last two years saw a change in the trend with a few movies minting the moolah in the middle of cricketing craze. That gave a fillip to the industry’s confidence, but not enough to pit big banner presentations opposite the IPL.
Now, coming to the films! David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor is the first release of the month. The comedy film is the remake of 1981 film of the same name, and stars Ali Zafar, Taapsee Pannu and Siddharth in the lead roles. And, this is not the only movie to satiate your need of comedy as Rohan Sippy’s Nautanki Saala follows in the next week. The quirky comedy about two friends is Ayushmann Khurrana’s second film after the superhit Vicky Donor.
Ekta Kapoor-Vishal Bhardwaj’s Ek Thi Daayan, however, remains the most interesting film of the month. The movie with a dynamic star cast could be a big winner at the BO.
So, let’s see the best releases of the month that can make audiences happy and set the cash registers ringing.
