Girish Kumar plays Ram, an NRI who falls for Sona (Shruti Haasan). Winning her love isn’t easy and he does try all the usual tricks of girl-wooing. “Mera naam hai Ram. Log kehte hain jo ladke out of India se aate hain, who bigde hue, badtameez, badmash aur conmen hote hain. Main waisa hi ladka hoon,” Girish announces rather knavishly.
After much persuasion when he finally wins her heart, comes a big hurdle: Sona’s strict and fulltu desi brother Sonu Sood. The big brother isn’t pleased with his sister’s choice in love. So he puts a challenge to Ram. Live a rough tough life in the countryside. If he survives, he can win Sona’s hand.
Then what? Our hero takes a headlong plunge into bucolic chores: like thrashing the grain, milking the cows and ploughing the fields.
Love is put to a tough test in Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Will the hero emerge triumphant?
Must admit the film’s story does remind one of Salman Khan’s blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya.
