The duo was in Bangalore where a contest was held to find a girl who is fit to be crowned as Meena of Chennai Express. The character Meena, played by Deepika Padukone, is a spitfire who doesn’t believe in holding her punches back.
After judging the girls who had made it to the finals, a girl named Kaavya was crowned the brave Meena of Bangalore.
Shahrukh Khan not just crowned the girl, but also danced with her, much to her delight. Deepika was dressed as a proper Bengaluru girl for the event.
Both Shahrukh and Deepika have a special connect with Bangalore. While Deepika is a Bangalore girl, Shahrukh spent his childhood years in the city. His grandfather worked as a chief engineer in Bangalore, and his mother spoke Kannada. SRK himself can manage a few words and sentences in Kannada.
Chennai Express hits theatres on 9 August. The film has the superstar playing a 40-year-old man who travels to south India to fulfill his late father’s last wish, but gets involved with a feisty south Indian girl (Deepika) who is the daughter of a dreaded don.
