As Calcutta’s most loved, most fearless and reckless Gunday, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor celebrate their friendship in the song ‘Jashn-e-Ishqa’.
Ranveer Singh is the over-energetic Bikram and Arjun Kapoor the flamboyant Bala in this YRF film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. They play two friends who come to Calcutta as orphans from Bangladesh in 1971 and go on to become gun couriers and later coal bandits, whom the poor love but the rich fear.
In the song ‘Jashn-e-Ishqa’ the duo celebrates their amity.
“Loha jag hum aari, sab pe hain hum bhari, aadha jag se yaarana hai, aadhi rab se yaari. Chalta hai sikka, hukmo ka ikka…Jashn-e-Ishqa,” goes the lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
We see Bikram and Bala show some stunts on freight trains. They ride a four-wheeler bike on the Howrah Bridge along with a gang of Gunday like themselves. They dance and play with colours on a spring morning. They wrestle in the muck.
The song has music by Sohail Sen. It’s a peppy track that will take some time to grow on the listeners. And yes, there’s no glimpse of the film’s heroine Priyanka Chopra in it.
