Dillagi review
'Dillagi' Urmila caught between Bobby and Sunny DeolBy Ajay ChaturvediFilm critic, ApunKaChoice.Com Sunny Deol’s first directorial venture Dillagi showcases emotions of a small, well-knit family going through the roller-coaster ride of life. This love story traverses three generations of a joint family, represented by Biji (Zohra Sehgal), the adorable grandma, and her son, Veer Singh (Dara Singh) who, alongwith his mother, migrates from their laid back village to the teeming metropolis of Mumbai. The patriarch Veer Singh has made good in the city. His is the classic rags to riches story. But all this is in the past and the movie takes off with Veer Singh's two sons, Ranvir (Sunny Deol) and Rajvir (Bobby Deol), who are unlike each other. Ranvir is a man of few words, work obsessed, responsible and a hopeless romantic. While the younger brother, has a gift of the gab, is a gregarious extrovert and loves the fast life. Rajvir is foot-loose and fancy-free. Veer Singh, a true son of the soil, has tried to instill the same values in his sons that he has been brought up on. Veer Singh's home is an ideal home full of happiness, love and laughter. Enter Shalini (Urmila Matondkar), an innocent and vulnerable girl. She walks straight into the hearts of both Ranvir and Rajvir. Both men, who thought so differently till then, are suddenly in love with the same girl though unknown to each other. Their hearts now beat only for Shalini. She is their idea of a perfect life partner. Shalini's parents, (Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Rima Lagoo), too are eager to see their daughter settle down in marital bliss. The two brothers are oblivious to each other's feelings for the same girl. They continue to dream about their dream girl. They even advise each other on how to win the girl's heart when the going gets tough. However, Shalini has her own ideas of a dream man. For her, love has an altogether different meaning. But love soon turns into jealousy, rage and violence when the brothers realize that they both are in love with the same girl. The family starts falling apart. Their lives take a turn for the worst and the brotherly feelings are a thing of the past. Shalini, caught in this web, is shattered. What is the fate of the two brothers? Will Veer Singh's family survive this turn of fate? These are the questions that the movie answers. Sunny Deol has done a fair enough job, both as director and hero. His brother Bobby still needs to learn a lot if he wants to make a name for himself. Urmila’s beauty seems to be increasing with each film. And the lady looks real charming. One hopes that this movie will give her what she needs most -- a hit. The film has several music directors, which is quite interesting. Dillagi Dillagi Dillagi and Dhoom Dhoom Luck are numbers easy to hum Copyright 2008 ApunKaChoice.com. All rights reserved. |
