Just when the cricket euphoria is at its all time high because of the ongoing World Cup in the Caribbean, Bollywood director Milan Luthria comes up with his latest movie 'Hat Trick'.
Keeping the cricket world cup as the backdrop of the story, 'Hat Trick' takes a look into the lives of five different characters, each of who is connected to cricket in one way or another.
Kunal Kapoor and Rimi Sen
Kunal plays Sarabjeet Singh and Rimi plays Kashmira. They are a married couple. Sarabjeet or Saby is such a cricket addict that he stays glued to TV all the time. Even his beautiful and seductive wife Kashmira is not able to distract him from cricket matches. Dhoni's blitzkrieg batting stimulates Saby more than his wife's alluring charm.
But then things take a turn. After just a crash course in Cricket, Kashmira also gets obsessed with Dhoni. So strong is her fixation for Dhoni that it becomes a matter of jealousy and annoyance for Saby.
Nana Patekar and Danny Denzongpa
Danny plays Madhav Anna, a hardcore cricket fan who never gets tired of watching the game or talking about it.
On the other hand is Dr. Satyajeet Chavan (Nana Patekar), a man who loves to hate cricket. An incurable cynic about Cricket, Dr. Chavan would love to bowl you out of the hospital if you talk cricket with him.
Paresh Rawal as Hemu Patel
And last but not the least is Hemu Patel, an illegal immigrant in London who works as a janitor and is absolutely smitten with Cricket. Although he is passionate about rooting for Indian team in the world cup, he downplays his patriotism and balances it with support for England as well. The reason? He wants a UK citizenship.
'Hat Trick' tells the tale of these five characters forming three different threads of story. But the threads are interwoven by one common theme: Cricket world cup in the Caribbean.
The title 'Hat Trick' is not just relevant to the fictionalized success of Indian team in the tournament, but also to the spirit of the characters in the three stories to surpass the insurmountable obstacles they face in their respective lives.
'Hat Trick' is directed by Milan Luthria whose last film 'Taxi No. 9211' received critical acclaim. The film is presented by UTV Motion Pictures and is produced by Ronnie Screwvala. The story and dialogues are written by Rajat Arora while the music is composed by Pritam.
'Hat Trick' will hit the theatres on March 16.
