‘Big B’ is the Vishu gift of the Big B of Malayalam cinema, Mammootty for his countless fans.
The film marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Amal Nirad, who cranked the camera for the Renjit-directed flick, Black (Malayalam) . Incidentally, Mammootty played the hero in ‘Black’.
‘Big B’ has Mammootty playing the lieutenant of a mafia don in Mumbai. Disillusioned with the life in underworld, Bilal (Mammootty) returns to his native town. The remainder of the film chronicles life after the underworld for Bilal and his three siblings.
A highlight of the movie is that former Ms India and Hindi film actress and social worker Nafisa Ali is playing Mammootty’s mother. Nafisa is a teacher and
social worker who is mother to four adopted sons who belong to different religions.
The film, which will be released on April 15, has music by Alphone. Nirad’s assistant, Samir Tahir wields the camera for the flick whose script has been penned by Nirad himself.
‘Big B’ will see the maiden appearance in a Malayalam film by Tamil veteran actor Pasupathy who plays an I.P.S. officer.
Manoj K Jayan, Bala and Summit Naval act as the brothers of Mammootty. The cast also includes Vijayaraghavan, Manianpilla Raju, Mamta, Sreejith Ravi, Anoop, Vinayakan, Manasa, and Leena.
A unique feature of ‘Big B’ is a dance sequence in which about 30 French and Russian artists participate.
‘Big B’ has been produced under the banner of Marikkar Films by Shahul Hameed and Anto Joseph.
