'Kasturiman'

Kasturiman is a Tamil remake of the Malayalam original with the same name.

Kasturiman also marks the directorial debut of Lohita Das, who wielded the megaphone in the Malayalam version.

The Malayalam version catapulted Meera Jasmine , who plays the female lead in the Tamil remake as well, to the pinnacle of fame. The film had also fetched her many awards.

The story is heroine-oriented, and offers ample scope for Meera to display her awesome talent.

Ms Jasmine plays a self-effacing college girl who goes to great lengths to ensure that her lover makes it big in life.

Shammi Thilagan (son of actor Thilagan), plays the lecherous brother-in-law, a role he had done in the Malayalam version as well.

The film has music by the peerless Ilayaraja.
