Like his colleague Vijay , Tamil actor Ajith also seems to have been hit by the remake bug.
Vijay is riding high on the success of the Tamil remake of the Telugu original Pokkiri . So much so he is planning another remake – of the Mohanlal starrer ‘Chota Mumbai’.
‘Kireedam’ is the remake of another Mohanlal movie with the same title. The Malayalam original was a huge success with family audiences lapping it up.
The story is the same but for some changes to suit the Tamil audience. Ajith plays a young man who wants to become a police officer. His father, an honest policeman himself, shares his desire.
The heroine is Tollywood topper Trisha , who plays Ajith’s female interest. Raj Kiran enacts the role of the honest policemen, played by Tilakan in the Malayalam original. Saranya is Ajith’s mother in the flick.
Others in the cast are Vivek, Saranya and Cochin Haneefa.
The film, directed by debutant AL Vijay, has music by another debutant: GV Prakash who is the nephew of celebrated composer A R Rahman . Thiru will wield the camera and Antony will do the editing. The film is expected to be released in the first week of this month.
Like the Malayalam original, the Tamil remake is also expected to become a blockbuster giving a new boost to brand Ajith.
